CLEVELAND – Notre Dame College track and field competed at Case Western Reserve University for the Ed Finnigan Greater Cleveland Colleges Invite, on Feb. 16, as the Falcons approach the end of the indoor season. Both the men's and women's teams had several top performances throughout the day.
Samantha Comer continued her impressive indoor season, as she took first place in the 60-meter hurdles. In the preliminary heat, the Galion, Ohio native finished second with a time of 9.37. She was faster once it was time to get on the track for the final, putting together a time of 9.33 to secure the top spot. She also took second place in women's high jump, clearing 1.52m.
On the men's side,
Matthew Griffin took sixth place in the 400m dash, with a 55.25.
DeAco Curry ran a 2:00.53 in the 800m, finishing just 0.01 away from third place. Dante Abrams qualified for the 60m finals by crossing the line with a 7.21 in the prelims. He took eighth place in the 60 finals.
Kalie Blaising was timed at 28.32 in the 200m dash, which was good for fourth place at the meet. She also competed in the 400m dash, recording a time of 1:05.99.
Samantha Rieger posted 8.66 on her first throw of the day, in the shot put event. That turned out to be her best attempt and placed her 12th in the meet.
The Falcons' final indoor meet will take place on March 1 and 2, at the Ohio Northern Last Chance meet.
