Release)
This is the sixth consecutive full-length season that at least one Falcon has been named an All-American by the Don Hansen Committee.
"I am very proud of these two young men on their accomplishments this past season," said head coach
Garrett Mack. "Their hard work and dedication are great examples of what it takes to achieve this status. They are tremendous leaders on and off the field and I am thrilled to see them represent this program."
Heidecker has been recognized for his work on the offensive line throughout his collegiate career, but is picking up his first All-America award. He becomes the fifth offensive lineman to be named an All-American in Notre Dame program history. This offseason, the junior has become a two-time First Team All-MEC member and a two-time Academic All-District honoree. In 2023, the native of Columbia Station, Ohio started every game at right guard and blocked for an offense that averaged over 202.2 rushing yards per game, ranking 22nd in Division II, and 411.9 yards of total offense, ranking 33rd in D2. The Falcons were tied for 14th in the country with 10 total sacks allowed.
Lawrence was named All-MEC First Team in 2023, becoming a two-time All-MEC member. The junior was nominated for the Harlon Hill Trophy, given to the top football player across NCAA Division II. Lawrence battled through a few injuries early in the season, but still led the team in rushing attempts, rushing yards, rushing touchdowns and rushing yards per game. His season was highlighted by a stretch four consecutive games of at least 180 rushing yards, from Oct. 7 to Oct. 28, and ran for three touchdowns in a win over West Liberty, on Oct. 21. The Pickerington High School product ranked fourth in D2 this past season was an average of 127.2 rushing yards per game, 12th in the country with 137.9 all-purpose yards per contest and 14th in total rushing yards, with 1,145. In NDC single-season program rankings, he is fifth in rushing yards per game, tied for fifth in all-purpose yards per game and eighth in rushing touchdowns (9).
The Don Hansen team carries out the legacy of long-time small college football advocate Don Hansen, who passed away at age 75 on Aug. 29, 2010. Hansen, from Brookfield, Ill., started and published Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette for three decades, selecting NCAA Division II All-America teams for the first time in 1988.
