LEBANON, Pa. – From May 11 to May 13, the NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regionals took place at the Iron Valley Golf Club. Notre Dame College's
Tyler Andersen was the second student-athlete in program history, and first since 2016, to compete in the event.
Andersen (77-81-78) finished the three-day, three-round tournament with a score of 236.
Following a practice round on May 10, NDC's sophomore golfer was ready for Thursday's round one. He hit for par through the first four holes, and although he struggled a bit over the next four, he still tallied a birdie on the seventh hole, a par-5. He was just three over par after the first nine and continued to roll into the back nine. With a birdie on 14, Andersen put together a plus-2 through the final nine holes and finished the day with a 77 (+5), in a tie for 40
th place out of 108.
On day two, he was one-under through the first three holes of the day and even par through five. Andersen recorded a birdie on both the second hole and the ninth, two par-4s. The native of Columbiana, Ohio wrapped up the front nine with another 38, two over par. After a difficult back nine on a hot afternoon, he came back to the clubhouse with an 81.
Starting the third round early in the morning on Saturday, Andersen posted a 42 through nine, but then was exceptional over the final nine holes of the tournament. After a bogey on 10, he settled in with a par on 11 and a birdie on 12. As a steady rain fell, he hit for par on each of the final six holes and had his best nine of the tournament, putting together a 36 and finishing the day at 78.
Andersen finished with 29 pars and five birdies. He was tied for 18th, among all golfers, with an average of 4.23 on par-4 holes.
