INDIANAPOLIS – The Notre Dame College football program won its fifth consecutive Mountain East Conference Championship, last fall, and qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs for the fourth time. The Falcons have now been given a statistical champion plaque for finishing the season with the lowest opponent passing efficiency of any team in Division II, at 86.73.
Pass efficiency is a formula that uses a quarterback's pass attempts, pass completions, pass yards, touchdowns and interceptions.
The Falcons' defense was solid all season, ranking in the top 15 nationally with 20 interceptions (2nd), 28 total takeaways (6th), a 27.1-percent opponent third down conversion (9th), 157.2 passing yards allowed per game (10th), 15.5 points allowed per game (11th) and 8.2 tackles for loss per game (13th). They were also tied with four teams at the top of the statistical category of defensive touchdowns, finishing the year with six.
NDC will get back on the field for spring practice very soon and will be on Mueller Field for the Spring Game on April 22, at noon.
