SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – Notre Dame College football head coach
Garrett Mack announced on Wednesday that 30 student-athletes have joined the NDC football family on National Signing Day.
Twenty-eight of the student-athletes who signed on Wednesday are from Ohio, with Michigan and Pennsylvania also represented.
"We are extremely excited about this year's signing class," said head coach
Garrett Mack. "We believe that this class is incredibly special. Not only is this recruiting class full of talented football players, but also great students and great people. Our staff put a premium on recruiting high character individuals to help us continue the success we have on and off the field."
This represents Mack's first signing day as head coach of the NDC program. In his first season on the sideline, last fall, the Falcons did not skip a beat. The program reached nine wins for the fifth time in the last six full length seasons. Notre Dame won its fifth consecutive Mountain East Conference Championship and qualified for the NCAA Playoffs for the fourth time. Since the beginning of the 2016 season, Notre Dame has put together a record of 67-13.
In 2022, Notre Dame led NCAA Division II in defensive touchdowns (6) and opponent passing efficiency (86.73). The team ranked sixth in takeaways, with 28, second in interceptions, with 20, second in blocked punts, with five, and ninth in opponent third down conversion percentage, at 27.1-percent. The Falcons scored 31.5 points per game and gained 360.8 yards per contest. The defense allowed just 15.5 points per game and gave up 288.3 yards per game, leading the conference in both categories.
"I want to thank my assistant coaches, our families, the administration and everyone in involved in this year's recruiting process," Mack mentioned. "I think our staff did a tremendous job getting the most talented players out of the state of Ohio and surrounding areas. We identified, very early on, who we believed will make an impact here and we worked very diligently to show them why we are a top 25 team year in and year out. My staff and I would like to thank Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Swain, Associate Athletic Director for Compliance Emily Schwabenbauer, Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information Jake Bunner and everyone else involved in the admissions process here at Notre Dame College. Without the incredible people here at Notre Dame College none of this would be possible."
