Four Falcons earn All-MEC First Team; A total of 10 recognized

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – On Friday, the Mountain East Conference announced its men's soccer all-conference teams and yearly awards for the 2023 season. Notre Dame College's Mirai Sato, Evans Armah, Connor O'Reilly and Juan Pineda were named First Team All-MEC. Danilo Abayo Wilson took Second Team, while Carlos Almeida, Ailton Fagner Silva, Callum Cleary and Jared Rimmer took Honorable Mention. Will Couch was named to the All-Freshman Team. (Release)
 
NDC has now had at least three players named First Team all-conference in six consecutive seasons.
 
The Falcons have gone 11-2-4, overall, and 8-2-4 against MEC opponents this year. They are the second seed in the MEC Tournament and have received a bye in Sunday's quarterfinal round. Next Wednesday, NDC will play either Davis & Elkins or West Liberty in the semifinals.
 
First Team All-MEC
Mirai Sato
-Leads the team, and tied for third in the conference, with nine goals
-Leads the team, and tied for second in the MEC, with three game-winning goals
-Has four multi-goal games
 
Evans Armah
-Leads the team and the MEC, while ranking 21st in the country, with seven assists
-Tied for second on the team with 13 points
-Tied for fourth on the team with three goals
 
Connor O'Reilly
-Third on the team in minutes played (1,342)
-Scored a goal and tallied an assist against Salem, on Sept.24
-Had back-to-back game-winning goals against Salem and W.Va. Wesleyan, in September
 
Juan Pineda
-Second on the team in minutes played (1,405)
-A major part of a defense that allows an average of one goal per game and 8.3 shots per game
-Tied for fourth on the team with three goals
 
Second Team All-MEC
Danilo Abayo Wilson
-Leads the team in minutes played (1,512)
-Ranks 12th in NCAA Division II with seven shutouts
-Holds a save percentage of .717
 
Honorable Mention
Carlos Almeida
-Second on the team with five goals
-Tied for second on the team with 13 points (5 goals, 3 assists)
 
Ailton Fagner Silva
-Second on the team, and sixth in the conference, with five assists
-Scored two goals against Davis & Elkins, on Oct. 8
 
Callum Cleary
-Seventh on the team in minutes played (1,180)
-Scored a goal against Ohio Dominican, on Sept. 3
 
Jared Rimmer
-Sixth on the team with 1,206 minutes played on the defensive side
-Tied for second on the team, and sixth in the MEC, with five assists
