O'Reilly, Rimmer named Academic All-Region

For the third consecutive season, Notre Dame College men's soccer will have multiple players representing the program on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District® Team. Following the 2023 campaign, Connor O'Reilly and Jared Rimmer have been recognized for their outstanding work on the pitch and in the classroom. (Release)

To be eligible for this award, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.50, or higher, cumulative grade point average. A graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average as both an undergraduate and a grad student.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced Dec. 19.

O'Reilly, a native of Letterkenny, Ireland, holds a 3.77 GPA as an accounting and sport management double major. He was given All-MEC First Team honors this season for the first time in his career. In the 2023 campaign, he ranked third on the team in minutes played, with 1,536, as one of the top midfielders in the conference. He put together a stretch of three games in September where he tallied a goal, an assist, or both in every match. The junior finished the campaign with two goals and three assists.

He will add this to a resume that includes a 2022 All-Mountain East Conference Second Team award, First Team All-Region recognition and MEC All-Academic Team honors.

Rimmer is a business administration major, with a 3.51 GPA. In his sophomore season, the native of Sydney, Australia ranked eighth on the team with 1,249 minutes played on the defensive side. He helped the Falcons record eight shutouts throughout the year. Rimmer, who has also been named to the MEC All-Academic Team, is third on the team, and tied for eighth in the MEC, with five assists. After the season, he was named MEC Honorable Mention.

This year, NDC men's soccer had a record of 11-4-4, finishing with a double-digit win total for the second consecutive campaign. Also for the second consecutive season, the program qualified for the NCAA Division II Tournament, after being placed seventh in the final Super Region 1 rankings. To start the season, the Falcons defeated No. 4 ranked Lake Erie, 3-0, and then put together a Mountain East Conference record of 8-2-4.
