NDC football picked ninth in two preseason rankings

According to the Lindy's Sports Division II football preseason poll and Wayne Cavadi's Power 10 ranking, Notre Dame College sits at No. 9 heading into the 2022 campaign. Lindy's also put together an All-Division II team, which includes Falcons' offensive lineman Adam Riegler on the Second Team Offense.

In 2021, Notre Dame won 11 games, which marked the third time since the 2018 campaign that the program reached double-digit victories. The Falcons took the Mountain East Conference title for the fourth consecutive season and qualified for the NCAA D2 Playoffs for the third consecutive campaign. In round one, they defeated Slippery Rock by a score of 33-25 to remain undefeated in home playoff games.

In the final American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) poll of the season, NDC was placed ninth. The Falcons have been ranked in the top 10 of the final AFCA rankings every season since 2018.

Garrett Mack took over as head coach in February and will rely on a strong mix of newcomers along with several players who have been a part of the historic success over the past four seasons. Safety Antoine Holloway II returns after he was named First Team All-MEC, All-Region and All-American following a season of 44 tackles and a team-high six interceptions as a sophomore. Other returning All-MEC First Team members include quarterback Chris Brimm, center Nick Beans, defensive lineman Jack Kosko and linebacker Nathan Moore.

Both articles placed Ferris State at the top of the charts, after the Bulldogs took the national title in 2021.

Notre Dame will open the season on Thursday, Sept. 1 at Ashland. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
