The award recognizes kickers for their excellence on the football field and for continued community service throughout the year. The winner will be announced on the Mully & Haugh Show, available on the Audacy app, on Dec. 8, at 10 a.m.

Shirkey is one of two juniors in the field of 10. He had a stellar season and has already earned First Team Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Region along with Second Team All-Mountain East Conference. The Bloom Carroll High School product was named to the October watch list for The Fred Mitchell Award.

In his first full season as the Falcons' kicker, Shirkey connected on 19 of his 21 on field goal attempts this season and put together a 12-for-13 mark on attempts of 30 yards, or more. The native of Bloom Carroll, Ohio also set the program record for longest field goal with a 46-yard kick, which he hit twice. He made 45 of his 46 extra point attempts, while averaging 56.2 yards per kickoff, with 17 touchbacks.

Shirkey took the top spot in Mountain East Conference history and program history with a field goal percentage of 90.4-percent. He also broke the NDC record, and sits in second place in conference history, with 19 made field goals in a season. In Division II, he is currently tied for second in field goals made this season, 3rd in the country in field goal percentage and 19
th in total points scored (102).
