Swimming & Diving set with pair of meets this weekend

This Week: The Notre Dame College swimming & diving team will hit the road for a pair of meets. On Friday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m. the Falcons will be at Ashland University for a GMAC/MEC dual meet. Next NDC will travel to The College of Wooster on Saturday Nov. 5 at 1 p.m.
 
Coaches Corner: Notre Dame is led by Stephanie Mulvin who enters her sixth season with the Falcon swimming and diving program. Mulvin has three MEC Championship trophies under her belt, after coaching the men's side to three consecutive conference crowns in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Kyle Walthall is in his fourth season with Ashland University. Lastly, Rob Harrington heads Wooster in his 20th season.
 
Rankings: None of these teams are ranked according to the CSCAA Top 25 Poll.
 
Noting the Women's side: Notre Dame is coming off a 152-50 defeat last weekend to Edinboro University in Mellen Pool. Senior Hannah Berlin grabbed an individual victory during the 1,000 yard freestyle. Berlin's time of 11:00.17 was more than five seconds faster than second place.
 
Prior to last weekend, NDC opened their season at Oberlin College, which featured competition from Ashland University. NDC placed third on the day with 18 points.
 
Noting the Men's side: Last week, NDC took down Edinboro narrowly, 101-93. The Falcons were led by junior Ashton Smith and redshirt senior Adonis Thomas who each claimed two event victories. Smith touched the wall first in the 100 (47.24) and 200 (1:47.22) yard freestyles, while Thomas was crowned in the 200 yard butterfly (2:01.90) and the 200 medley relay.
 
Joining Thomas on the relay was Austin Arnold, Campbell Fisher and Roan Kelleher who worked together to best EU by 0.27 seconds with a time of (1:40.37)
 
Prior to last week, the Falcons saw Ashland at the season opening meet at Oberlin where NDC took third with 25 points.


Noting the Eagles: Last week, Ashland fell to Wayne State on both sides, 151-75 for the men and 161-71 for the women. The Eagles opened their 2022 season at the Oberlin College Invite where the women grabbed first and the men took second.
 
Noting the Fighting Scots: Last week, Wooster took down Malone convincingly, 175-27 for the men and 167-33 for the women. The Fighting Scots began their season against Mount Union where they split. The men lost 197-145, as the women won 181-161.
