FROSTBURG, MD – Over the weekend, the Notre Dame College swimming and diving team jumped back into the pool for the first time during the New Year, as the Falcons competed at Frostburg State University on Saturday afternoon. NDC fell to FSU, 160-32 on the men's side and 168-29 on the women's side.
The Falcons boasted a handful of top three finishers, led by sophomore
Luis Aguilar Delgado's first place showing in the 200 meter individual medley. The Tarchira, Venezuela native touched the wall at 2:17.61, besting Jackson Miller of FSU by .03 seconds.
In addition, Aguilar Delgado added a second place showing in the 200 meter butterfly with a time of 2:37.78.
Junior
Courtney Ledbetter earned second place with a valiant effort in the 50 meter freestyle, coasting to a 28.64, just .01 seconds behind first.
In the 100 meter freestyle, junior
Abrielle Junge took home third place at 1:04.81.
Senior
Jordan Stump posted a third place in the 200 meter breaststroke, swimming a 3:03.49.
All four Falcon relays claimed third-place finishes, earning a pair of points in each event for NDC. In the 200 medley relay,
Sydney Grzincic, Stump, Ledbetter and Junge swam for the women's team (2:14.67), followed by
Joshua Stokes,
Lucas Vandewinckel, Aguilar Delgado and
Samuel Ganim for the men (1:54.90). Rounding out the day in the 200 free relay, Ledbetter,
Riley Monahan,
Niela Dawlett and Junge competed for the women (1:59.79), while Stokes,
Sebastian Sanchez-Cordero,
Kostadinos Floros-Angelinas and Ganim represented the men's team (1:45.73).
The Notre Dame College swimming and diving team will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 19 at 5 p.m. as the Falcons host Malone University inside Mellen Pool for the first home meet of the season.
