Stephanie (Gyurke) Mulvin was named head coach of the Notre Dame College Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Programs on Aug. 2, 2017. She will be entering her seventh year in the 2022-23 season.
Gyurke joined the Notre Dame coaching staff in the fall of 2016 as a graduate assistant.
Another trophy was brought back to South Euclid in her fifth season as head coach. The men's program won its third consecutive MEC title at the GMAC-MEC Championships and for the third straight season, Gyurke was named MEC Coach of the Year. The women's team also took second place for the second year in a row. For the first time in program history, Ashton Smith was named MEC Male Swimmer of the Year and Hannah Berlin earned MEC Female Swimmer of the Year. The two programs combined to bring in 19 individual All-MEC awards and nine relays All-MEC honors. Both programs were named Scholar All-America teams by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America.
Gyurke led the men's program to their second consecutive MEC Championship in her fourth season at the helm. The men's team had 1,047 points in the GMAC-MEC Championships and continued their reign over MEC schools. Gyurke was named MEC Men's Coach of the Year for the second straight season. The women's program placed second among MEC schools at the GMAC-MEC Championships, their best finish since joining the conference in 2017-18. The men's team earned All-MEC honors in seven individual events and four relays. The women's team earned All-MEC awards in nine individual awards and four relays.
In her third season as head coach of the program, Gyurke led the men's team to their first ever MEC title at the 2020 GMAC-MEC Championship, totaling 811 points. At the championships, the Falcons earned All-MEC honors in 12 individual events and one relay with Gyurke taking home MEC Men's Coach of the Year honors. The Falcons also totaled three conference wins in the regular season, which is the most in a single season since joining the MEC. On the women's side, Gyurke coached the Falcons to an MEC-era program record eight regular season wins along with a fourth-place finish in the MEC.
During her first season, Gyurke led both the men's and women's team to two wins each and a strong performance at the G-MAC-MEC Championships where the team finished with All-MEC honors in 11 events. Seth Knights highlighted the conference championships with a win in the 50m freestyle.
Gyurke came to Notre Dame College after a successful five-year career at Ohio University. She is specialized in the IM, distance, and breaststroke events.
In the summer of 2016, she coached for the National Swim Camp in Pittsburgh prior to starting at Notre Dame College. She is originally from Bellevue, Ohio, and is the oldest of five kids. She has been swimming competitively since she was eight.Â
