The Falcons led all Mountain East Conference teams, as Charleston, Concord and Frostburg State each had one player represented. Notre Dame had the second highest number of First Team members in the region.
Lee had an incredible season on the defensive side of the ball. The senior became the first player in program history to be named Mountain East Conference Defensive Player of the Year. He also took home All-MEC First Team and was nominated for the Harlon Hill Trophy, awarded to the top player in NCAA Division II. This is Lee's third time on the D2CCA All-Region First Team. Lee had 23 tackles for loss, which tied him for third in D2 in that category. He finished the campaign 1.5 TFL away from tying the NDC single-season record. Lee did break a program record with five forced fumbles and tied an NDC record with three fumbles recovered. The Farmington Hills, Mich. native led the team, and was three shy of an NDC record, with 58 solo tackles and was at the top of the squad with 87 total tackles. He totaled nine sacks and one interception. In NDC career ranks, he now leads the program in solo tackles (194), total tackles (344), forced fumbles (8), fumbles recovered (8), fumbles returned for TD (4) and is tied for first in tackles for loss (55). In MEC career ranks, he is the career leader in fumbles recovered and is tied for the lead in fumbles recovered for a touchdown.
Nicholson represents an incredibly durable and talented offensive line. The Falcons' left tackle was named All-MEC First Team and is currently a finalist for the Gene Upshaw Award, given to the top senior offensive or defensive lineman in Division II. He is being recognized on a D2CCA All-Region team for the third time in his career and it is his second time as a First Team member. Nicholson started all 13 games for the Falcons this season, he was a part of an offensive line that allowed just eight sacks. The line ranks fourth in the country by allowing 0.62 sacks per game. Nicholson is coming off of his second consecutive season of not allowing his assignment to record a sack. He blocked for a rushing offense that averaged 199.5 yards per game, which ranks 25th in D2. The Falcons also ranked 19th in Division II with 449.9 yards of total offense per contest.
Holloway, a safety, was a major factor in the Falcons' record breaking 36 takeaways and 21 interceptions. In his first full season at NDC, the sophomore had five interceptions in the first five games, including two against both Wheeling and West Liberty. Along with his two interceptions in the Wheeling contest on Sept. 9, Holloway picked up a fumble and returned it 20 yards for a touchdown. The native of Maple Heights, Ohio also recorded a pick-six against Charleston on Oct. 2. Holloway tied the NDC single-season record with six total interceptions. He tied his season-high with seven tackles in the Second Round of the NCAA Division II Playoffs against Shepherd. Holloway was fourth on the team with 37 solo tackles and was named All-MEC First Team.
Harris-Lyles quickly became a force on the defensive line for the Falcons. The First Team All-MEC honoree is fourth in Division II with 12 total sacks and ranks seventh in the country with one sack per game. He ranks sixth in D2 with 22 tackles for loss and is 11th in tackles for loss per game (1.7). The senior broke the program record with 4.5 sacks in a game against West Virginia State on Sept. 25. In that same game, he tied a program record with 5.5 tackles for loss and set a season-high with 10 total tackles. He finished three tackles for loss short of breaking the Notre Dame single-season record, two quarterback hurries (9) shy of breaking that program record and finished second in NDC single-season history in total sacks. The Atlantic City High School product also had 56 total tackles and four forced fumbles.
