Jacobs named MEC Men's Sports Coach of the Year

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - Notre Dame College football coach Mike Jacobs has been named the Mountain East Conference Men's Sports Coach of the Year for 2018-19. Jacobs earned the honor after a vote by the conference's institutional administrators and the conference office.

Jacobs had a historic season in his third year at the helm of the program, winning the team's first MEC Championship and earning its first NCAA Playoff berth. After an 11-0 regular season, the Falcons went on to win two NCAA Playoff games to win the Super Region 1 title and advance to the NCAA Semifinals.

This end-of-year honor is one of many Jacobs has earned for leading his team in 2019. He was named the Mountain East Conference Football Coach of the Year as well as the Super Region 1 Coach of the Year and the National Coach of the Year by the Don Hansen Football Gazette.

Jacobs is the first coach from Notre Dame to be named MEC Men's Sports Coach of the Year.
