Â
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - After a hot start, the Notre Dame College football season is in full swing. With a 4-0 start this team has the potential to do great things, like they did in 2018, after bringing back so many key players. Looking ahead to the final seven games of the season there are some unique players that have a great chance to etch their name into the Falcon record books and add to their legacy.
Â
Defensive tackle
Sha'haun Williams is one player who has already done such on the defensive side of things. He currently holds three NDC records with career records in tackles for loss (44), sacks (33.5) and forced fumbles (six). With the consistent production Williams puts out on the field week to week, it will be tough for any of these to be touched.
Â
Williams is nearing the Mountain East Conference record in sacks as he currently ranks third. He needs two sacks to move into second and seven to break the current conference mark.
Â
Other notable NDC records on defense that are held by current NDC players include DB
Jeffrey Thomas – 40 passes defended – and LB
Curtis Collins – four fumbles recovered.
Â
Offensively, RB
Jaleel McLaughlin has put on an electrifying show every week in his short time here at NDC. He is closing in on the Falcons' career rushing TD and rushing yards records (currently at 33 and 4774 by
Pedro Powell, 2010-2013) with 29 and 3322, respectively. In under two seasons Jaleel is on pace to shatter both of these records, even the touchdown record possibly in the next game.
Â
Lastly, there is one impressive element that shows how unique this team is. There are three players on the roster that have a chance to break the current NDC career touchdown record (36 by Powell) and finish top three in Falcon history: McLaughlin (30), WR
Marvelle Ross (29) and RB
Ladennyawn Greene (27).
                       Â
Over the next seven weeks, and beyond, NDC history will be re-written in the 2019 season. The next game is the Homecoming game Saturday, October 3rd vs West Virginia Wesleyan College (1-3) at 12 PM.
