Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame ran into tough conference competition last week, falling to No. 20 Wheeling University, 3-1, and West Liberty University, 3-0. A positive takeaway from the week was that the Falcons took a set from Wheeling, the perennial MEC volleyball powerhouse, for the first time in program history. NDC will look to snap their season-high three match losing streak this week, beginning with non-conference foe, Lake Erie. The Falcons are currently tied with four teams in the MEC standings, sitting with a 2-3 record. Turning to players climbing the national ranks,
Paige Staudacher ranks seventh in NCAA Division II in assists (738) while
Alexandra Kaeberlein is seventh in digs (413). Kaeberlein is also 15th in digs per set (5.74), in part because she has a .948 receiving percentage on defense.
Katie Richardson leads the Falcons in blocks with 47.
Kaye Dregalla leads the team in kills with 214 and
Mary Kate McHugh is close behind with 193.
Blaire Barr has been impressive this season, posting a .320 hit percentage in 381 attempts. If the campaign ended today, she would rank fifth in program history for a season. Barr has 151 kills and 35 blocks. Seven Falcons have over 10 aces this season and Staudacher leads the way with 25. Notre Dame ranks 14th in aces in DII with 136. Also in the Division II ranks this season, NDC is sixth in team digs with 1,392, eighth in team assists with 906, 11th in kills with 957 and 16th in digs per set with 18.8. Notre Dame also leads the MEC in all of those categories, except digs per set, where they rank second.

The Storm started their season 1-9, but have since have gone 6-3 in their last nine games, including four wins in their last five. Lake Erie, who competes in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, has defeated two Mountain East teams so far in 2019 (Urbana, Frostburg State). Taylor Metzler has 150 kills, which leads the team, and five LEC players have over 100 kills. Alexandria Becerra leads the team with 430 assists and Hallie Zumack is not far behind at 227. Kaylee Hiser leads the defense and has 225 digs. Courtney Rosebrook has put down 53 blocks.
Noting the Mountain Lions: Concord has played in two invitationals at neutral sites this season and they have gone 0-4 in both, which has hurt their season record. The Mountain Lions ended September with a 2-9 record and were swept five times. However, since the calendar flipped to October, CU has gone 3-3 in their previous six matches, including a sweep of Glenville State. Amber Hall leads the Mountain Lions with 126 kills and Camryn Huber is trailing close behind and sitting at 121 kills. Jenna Mounts (276) and Imani Rodgers (229) are at the top of the team in assists. On defense, Lindsay Maddox has 231 digs and Erin Shannon also has over 200, with 207. Sheridan Herron leads the squad with 39 blocks.
Noting the Pioneers: Glenville State is currently on a six-game losing streak and they are still looking for their first win in October. In their last three games, Concord, Charleston and West Virginia State have all swept the Pioneers. Against West Virginia State, on October 12, GSC was held to 28 total points over three sets. Skylar Mace ranks second in the conference with 3.61 kills per set and 4.08 points per set. Karlei Shaver is fourth in the MEC in kills per set, with 3.32.
