The D2CCA NCAA Division II All-Atlantic Region Team for the 2017 campaign was announced on Wednesday. In the list presented by the Conference Commissioner's Association, Notre Dame College'sÂ
Leonardo Paiva was named to the First Team and
Paolo Termine was given the nod on the Second Team.
Paiva, a senior, has now garnered an Atlantic Region honor for the third consecutive season. The native of Vitoria, Brazil played in 17 games and started 16 of them this season. He scored 12 goals and had 27 points on 91 shots, while knocking through five game winning goals in 1440 minutes. He led the Mountain East in shots-per-game and game winning goals while coming in second in points-per-game and goals-per-game. The Falcons forward ends his career with 56 goals and 19 game winning goals. Paiva was also named to the All-MEC First Team and was twice named MEC Offensive Player of the Week.
On the defensive side, Termine was a part of a unit that had eight shutout victories this season. The sophomore played in 18 games and recorded one goal and two points. The NDC defense ranked second with just 16 goals allowed in conference play this season. Also in the MEC rankings, they were second in shots on goal allowed and third in overall shutouts. The Savona, Italy native was named to the All-MEC First Team for the 2017 season.
Charleston's Will Roberts, who was the Mountain East Conference Offensive Player of the Year, was named Atlantic Region Player of the Year.
The Falcons lost in penalty kicks to the University of Charleston in the Mountain East Conference Tournament and ended the season with a record of 11-6-1, overall, and 8-4 in the MEC.Â
