Notre Dame will end the regular season with two road games

This week: Notre Dame College men's soccer will wrap up their regular season with two road games. They will play Urbana University at 7 p.m. on October 25 and then will travel to Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Mich. to play a neutral contest with Northern Michigan University at 12 p.m. on October 28.

Records: The Falcons currently hold a record of 11-4 overall and 8-3 in the Mountain East Conference. Urbana is 8-6 and 6-4 MEC while Northern Michigan is 4-10-2 in 2017.
Coaches Corner: Carl Nolan is in his second season as head coach of Notre Dame. His current coaching record stands at 21-9-2, 16-5-2 MEC. Nick Roberts has been with Urbana for 10 seasons and in 2016, the Blue Knights went 14-5-1, 9-3 MEC. David Poggi was named the first coach of the men's program at NMU in 2015. In nearly two full seasons, Poggi's record stands at 9-20-4.

Rankings: Notre Dame received votes in the United Soccer Coaches poll released October 24. NDC was also ranked fifth in the first regional rankings of the season, which was released on October 18.

Series History: The Falcons are 12-5-1 against Urbana since 2001 and they beat the Blue Knights, 1-0 on September 27. NDC has never played Northern Michigan.

Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame has five straight wins and has shut out their opponent in four consecutive games. NDC beat Shepherd University 4-0 on October 18 with three of the goals scored in the second half. Leonardo Paiva, who is third in the MEC in goals and points, scored in the 18th minute, Leo Ceruti scored his first goal of the season in the 69th minute with an assist by Paiva and then Guilherme Gloria Albuquerque scored two goals, his first multi-goal game, with one in the 72nd minute and another in the 80th minute. As a team, the Falcons took 24 shots. The Falcons also beat West Virginia Wesleyan College 1-0 and Albuquerque had the only goal of the game, the game winner, in the 81st minute. Goalkeeper Daniele De Angelis hauled in five saves. For the second week in a row, the Falcons swept the Mountain East Conference weekly awards with Albuquerque taking home Offensive Player of the Week with three goals and six points and De Angelis winning Defensive Player of the Week, for the second straight week, after two shutouts.

Noting the Blue Knights: Urbana played only one game last week against the University of Charleston on October 18 at home. Against the top team in the nation and region, the Blue Knights lost, 3-0 as the Golden Eagles had goals from Sam Bethell (26'), David Achaerandio (55') and Armando Tikvic (79'). Urbana was held to four shots in the game as UC continued their undefeated season. Antoine Ravera has scored six goals and 13 points, both lead the team. Daniel McNicholas has 47 saves and a save percentage of .644 this season.

Noting the Wildcats: On October 20, Northern Michigan traveled to Ashland University and forced a 3-3 tie. Northern Michigan was trying to win two games in a row for the first time all season. Ashland took the early lead with a goal by Thomas Ardron in the 25th minute. NMU would score the next two goals and grabbed the lead, but Ashland tied the game at two at the 65 minute mark. In the 66th minute Sam Popp, who leads the team with four goals and 11 points, scored a goal to give the Wildcats a 3-2 advantage. Ashland's John Dulder scored in the 75th minute to tie the game and eventually send it into overtime. In the 20 minutes of OT, the Wildcats and Eagles went scoreless. On October 22, Northern Michigan lost to Tiffin University 2-0. Matthew Tait (30') and Marc Albert Feliu (86') had the goals for the Dragons.
