Box Score
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- The Notre Dame College men's soccer team earned a 2-0 road win over the host Shepherd Rams on Tuesday afternoon, picking up its first Mountain East Conference win of the season in the process.

The Falcons (1-2, 1-0 MEC) controlled the pace of the game from start to finish, outshooting the Rams by a margin of 26-6 on the day. NDC also attempted 11 corner kicks on the day while limiting the Rams to zero such attempts.

After Falcons goalkeeper Daniele De Angelis made a save in just the second minute of play, the Falcons' offense took control, firing four shots at the Rams goalkeeper in just the first 10 minutes.

In the 27th minute, the Falcons finally converted a shot opportunity into a goal as 2015 CCA All-American Leonardo Paiva scored his third goal of the season, assisted by Thomaz Freitas.

With a 1-0 lead in hand, NDC's defense maintained the lead going into the halftime intermission.

Coming out of the second half, the Falcons picked up right where they left off with their aggressive offensive attack.

After three shot attempts in the first 10 minutes of the second half, the Falcons connected on their fourth shot of the half as Arthur Favero sniped his first goal of the season, pushing NDC's lead to 2-0 in the 56th minute.

From there, the Falcons continued to maintain a steady defensive front while staying aggressive on the offensive side of the pitch to hold on for the 2-0 road win over Shepherd.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 1-2 on the season, including a 1-0 mark in MEC play.

NDC will return to action on Friday, Sept. 9 on the road against West Virginia Wesleyan in another MEC showdown. Game time is scheduled for 7 pm.
