Men's soccer drops road contest to No. 1 Charleston, 2-0

Box Score
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Playing on the road against the top-ranked team in Division II, the Notre Dame College men's soccer team dropped a tough 2-0 match to the host Charleston Golden Eagles on Sunday afternoon at Schoenbaum Stadium. The Falcons fell behind 2-0 in the first half and the score remained the same at the end of regulation as NDC dropped the Mountain East Conference matchup.

The Golden Eagles, who came into the contest averaging over three goals per game, jumped on the scoreboard early with a seventh minute goal from Lewis Osborne. The Falcons attempted to respond, searching for their offensive rhythm.

However, it was the Golden Eagles who scored next, taking a 2-0 lead in the 40th minute with another goal.

At halftime, the Falcons trailed by a score of 2-0.

The Falcons came out with renewed energy in the second half, creating more offensive chances and posing more pressure on the Golden Eagles defense. At the same time, the Falcons' defense stood tall, keeping the Charleston attack at-bay.

Despite the push from the Falcons offense, they were unable to capitalize on any of their seven second-half shots as they fell short against Charleston, 2-0.

With the loss, the Falcons fall to 6-2 on the season, including a 3-2 mark in MEC play.

NDC will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 30 against Slippery Rock in a non-conference matchup. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m.
