Men's soccer dominates Concord in 5-0 road win

Hastings nets a hat trick to lead NDC to victory

Box Score
CONCORD, W.Va -- Playing in less-than-ideal conditions on Saturday morning, the Notre Dame College men's soccer team took to the road to take on the host Concord University Mountain Lions in a Mountain East Conference showdown. The Falcons put together an impressive performance from start to finish, dominating the Mountain Lions en route to a 5-0 road victory.

The game between Concord and NDC began at a slower pace, as both teams used the first 30 minutes of the match to feel out their opponent. However, the Falcons offense began rolling shortly after that in the final minutes of the first half.

In the 36th minute, Renan Troccoli fed a pass through the box to Mikhail Hastings, who beat the Concord keeper on the left side to score the opening goal of the game. With Hastings' goal, the Falcons went into halftime with a narrow 1-0 lead over the Mountain Lions.

Less than one minute into the second half, the Falcons began to separate themselves from the Mountain Lions. Mikhail Hastings netted his second goal of the game at the 45:50 mark of the game, giving the Falcons a 2-0 lead early in the second half.

The score remained at 2-0 until midway through the second half, as Troccoli jumped in on the scoring action. After registering an assist on the opening goal of the game, Troccoli scored a goal of his own via penalty kick in the 68th minute, pushing NDC's advantage to 3-0.

But the Falcons weren't done there.

Minutes after Troccoli converted the penalty kick attempt, Hastings added yet another goal to his tally. David Perez and Troccoli both assisted Hastings on the goal - his third of the game - as the Falcons took a convincing 4-0 lead in the 73rd minute of the game.

With the game clock winding down, the Falcons netted one last goal in the 84th minute. Perez booted a spot-on corner kick into the box, and Reymar Klochko-Khoo scored a header goal for the Falcons, extending NDC's lead to 5-0 with just over six minutes to play.

From there, the Falcons held on for an impressive 5-0 road victory over the host Mountain Lions.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 7-3 on the season, including a 4-2 mark in Mountain East Conference play.

The Falcons will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at home against Urbana University in another MEC showdown. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Mueller Field.
