Last-second goal leads Falcons to 1-0 win over WV Wesleyan

Le Ho scores with 1.3 seconds remaining to clinch win

Box Score
BUCKHANNON, W.Va -- Walk-off wins are few and far between in soccer, but that's essentially the outcome the Falcons came away with on Sunday against West Virginia Wesleyan. Alexis Le Ho scored the game-winning goal with less than two seconds remaining in regulation, and NDC came away with a dramatic 1-0 road win over the host Bobcats in a Mountain East Conference showdown.

When these two teams met earlier this season on Sept. 11 in South Euclid, the Falcons put together an impressive performance en route to a 4-2 home win. However, the second match between the two sides proved to be a much lower scoring affair.

NDC won the shot advantage in the first half, outshooting WVW 7-4 overall and 4-1 on corner kick attempts. However, neither side was able to find offense in the first half, leading to scoreless tie at halftime.

In the second half, the Falcons controlled the pace of the game even more than they did in the first half. NDC peppered numerous shots at the Bobcats goalkeeper throughout the second half, but were unable to connect.

After a combined 15 shots in the first and second half combined, the Falcons remained scoreless on the scoreboard. However, Daniel Nagy stood tall in net for NDC, making three saves while pitching a shutout.

With the game clock under 10 seconds and score still tied at zero, overtime seemed inevitable.

On the Falcons 16th shot attempt of the day, Alexis Le Ho clinched the win for NDC as he scored with 1.3 seconds remaining in regulation. Le Ho's goal came with an assist from Declan McGivern, and gave the Falcons a last-second win over a rival MEC opponent.

With the win, the Falcons improve to 10-4 on the season, including a 6-3 mark in MEC play.

NDC will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 22 at home against No. 5 Charleston in another MEC matchup. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Mueller Field.
