Box Score SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon as the Notre Dame College men's soccer team played host to the visiting Bloomsburg Huskies in a non-conference matchup at Mueller Field. The Falcons controlled the game from start to finish, beating the Huskies by a final score of 2-0.

The Falcons (8-4 overall) hosted a pregame ceremony for
Drew, the team's latest signee. Saturday was Drew's birthday and  he celebrated by coming to support the NDC men's soccer team, helping cheer the team to victory. The crowd at Mueller  Field gave Drew a round of applause and wished him happy birthday shortly before the match began.
NDC maintained the tempo early in the first half, a theme that would continue throughout the game. The Falcons applied  pressure early on by chipping shots at the Bloomsburg keeper, but couldn't find the back of the net.Â
After hitting the left post in the 18th minute,
Leonardo Paiva finally broke through in the 25th minute. Paiva found an open  breakaway in the box, beat the keeper and chipped a shot to the back right side to give NDC a 1-0 lead.
Following the goal from Paiva, the Falcons continued to control the game in the first half with more offensive pressure. With the first half clock at less than 30 seconds, it appeared the Falcons would go into the half with a 1-0 lead over the Huskies.
However,
Jacob Earnest came through with last-second magic at the end of the first half. With a pass from
Arthur Favero, Earnest scored a goal for the Falcons with just one second remaining in the first half, giving NDC momentum as well as a 2-0 lead.
The Falcons outshot the Huskies by an 11-5 margin in the first half, and continued to outshoot the opposition in the second half. NDC outshot BU by an 8-3 margin in the second half, again controlling the tempo and applying offensive pressure.
NDC didn't add another goal in the second half, but didn't need to as it relied on strong defensive play and solid goalkeeping from
Daniel Nagy.
From there, the Falcons closed out the game to pick up a 2-0 win over the Huskies. With the win, the Falcons improve to 8-4 on the season. Furthermore, the win was the 200th win in NDC men's soccer history - an impressive milestone marker for the program.
NDC will return to action on Thursday, October 16 on the road at Shepherd University in a Mountain East Conference showdown. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
