Box Score SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Coming off of an impressive 8-0 victory over Findlay on Tuesday, the Notre Dame College men's soccer team kept the good times rolling with a dominant 3-0 win over Shepherd University on Saturday afternoon at Normandy Field.
The Falcons controlled the tempo of the game from start to finish, and immediately put pressure on the Rams with a goal from freshman
Jacob Earnest at the 9:06 mark, with the assist from junior
Ryan Ware.
With a 1-0 lead in hand, the Falcons continuously peppered the Rams' goalkeeper throughout the first half - and the entire game - as they outshot Shepherd 21-0 in the first half alone. One of those 21 shots happened to be a goal from senior
Adam Mitchell in the 36th minute, with the assist from junior
Martin Lange, as the Falcons went into halftime with a 2-0 lead on the scoreboard.
In the second half, the Falcons didn't let up on the Rams, as they continued to fire shot after shot at Shepherd's Alex Aleshire.
After recording an assist on the first Falcons goal, Ware added a goal to his stat sheet as he found the back of the net in the 62nd minute to give NDC a 3-0 lead. From there, the Falcons continued to press for opportunities, but the score would remain the same as NDC picked up a welcome 3-0 victory against a talented conference foe.
With the win, the Falcons improve to 6-2 on the season, including 3-1 in Mountain East Conference play.
The Falcons will next compete on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at home against the visiting Urbana Blue Knights. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
