Box Score SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- After playing two Mountain East Conference games on the road last week, the Notre Dame College men's soccer team returned home to take on the visiting Findlay Oilers. The Falcons used their homefield to their advantage, beating the Oilers by a lopsided score of 8-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Mueller Field.
Offensive production was the theme of the game for the Falcons, as they scored their first goal just 25 seconds into the game via a header from
Ryan Ware, with the assist coming on a cross from
Christopher Fairley.
Throughout the first 20 minutes of the game, both teams seemed evenely matched and battled with the score at just 1-0, in favor of NDC. The Falcons looked to increase their margin, and eventually did as
Adam Mitchell netted a goal of his own at the 19:53 mark, with Ware getting the assist this time.
Both teams went into halftime with the score at just 2-0, but once the second half came around, the flood gates opened.
In the 51st minute,
Martin Lange scored an unassisted goal to push the lead to 3-0. Just over four minutes later, Ware scored again for the Falcons, this time via penalty kick.
With the score at 4-0,
Felipe Silva and
Declan McGivern scored goals just 39 seconds apart in the 59th minute, and the rest, as they say, is history.
Jacob Earnest and
Badou Drammeh tacked on two more goals for the Falcons near the end of regulation, and NDC walked away with a dominant 8-0 win at home over the Oilers.
With the Win, the Falcons improve to 5-2 overall, including a 3-1 mark at home. The Falcons will compete next on Saturday, Sept. 27 against the Shepherd UUniversity Rams as part of Notre Dame College's Homecoming Weekend. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. at Normandy Field.
