Falcons fall in OT

NDC drops 1-0 final to Charleston in overtime

Box Score
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Notre Dame Falcons lost their first road tilt in MEC action on Wednesday afternoon, falling to Charleston, 1-0 in overtime.

The Falcons (3-2, 1-1) fell on the road for the first time in two tries this season, and the loss was just their second in two seasons in regular season MEC action. The 4th ranked Golden Eagles (5-0, 2-0) were the only team to beat the Falcons in MEC play last year, and remain unbeaten with the win.

Defense ruled the night for both sides, as goals and shots were both very tough to come by on both sides. The Falcons fired off eight shots on the night, with one on goal, while Charleston was able to get 11 shots off, with three on goal.

The game winner came in the 101st minute of the contest, as Andy Harrison scored off an assist from Felipe Antonio on a one-time touch to win it for the Golden Eagles.

Notre Dame's one shot on goal came from Jacob Earnest, in the 100th minute of the match, but was saved by UC goalkeeper Fabian Veit.

The Falcons return to MEC action again in their next contest, on Saturday, Sept. 21, when they take on WV Wesleyan in Buckhannon, W.Va. The contest is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start.
