Men's soccer cruises to 4-1 win over Concord

Box Score
SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- With the Mountain East Conference Tournament right around the corner and teams jockeying for seeding position, the Notre Dame College men's soccer team helped their cause with a 4-1 win over Concord University on Saturday afternoon at Mueller Field.

The Falcons used a full team effort to beat the Mountain Lions on Saturday, and were led by two goals and one assist from junior Ryan Ware.

Ware scored the first goal of the game in the 30th minute to give NDC the 1-0 lead, with the assist from senior Adam Mitchell.

While the Falcons held a narrow 1-0 lead at halftime, they completely outplayed the Mountain Lions as they outshot CU 11-0 in the first half.

Shortly after the start of the second half, Ware scored his second goal of the game - and team-leading seventh goal of the season - to give NDC a 2-0 lead in the 47th minute. Freshman Jacob Earnest assisted Ware on the goal.

Twenty-six seconds later, the Falcons scored again. Sophomore George Kennett scored to push the NDC lead to 3-0, with the assist from junior Jovanny Bonilla.

The Mountain Lions scored in the 61st minute to cut the deficit to 3-1, but that's all the offense they would muster on the day. Junior Alexander Parkes scored the fourth and final Falcons goal of the day in the 70th minute off a corner kick from Ware.

The Falcons went on to win the match by a score of 4-1, leaving the Falcons in second place in the MEC standings.

The Falcons will next compete on Wednesday, Oct. 29 on the road at Urbana University in their final game of the regular season. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
