SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – The #6 Notre Dame College Men's Soccer team fell 1-0 in double overtime to #22 Mercyhurst in the second round of the NCAA Division II championship. The Falcons conceded the decisive goal in the 104th minute as Dane Rimko scored for the Lakers.

Playing on Mueller Field, in a game that was moved up an hour due to the threat of inclement weather, a strong wind dominated the game with both teams having to adjust their play accordingly.

Playing into the wind in the first half the Falcons limited the Lakers to six shots and were able to control possession well. With the wind on their backs in the second half the Falcons created a number of goal scoring opportunities but were unable to provide a finishing touch. The Falcons outshot the Lakers 12-8 in regulation.

The Falcons continued to apply pressure in the first period of overtime but again couldn't quite find the back of the net. Mercyhurst were able to absorb the pressure and in the 104th scored an opportunistic but clinical goal to seal their place in the third round of the NCAA Division II Tournament.

The Falcons season is bookended by games against Mercyhurst. The Falcons won their opening game of the season 1-0 at Mercyhurst and fell 1-0 in their final game of the season to the Lakers.

The Falcons finish the season with a record of 15-4-0, which included a Mountain East Conference regular season title and their second consecutive trip to the NCAA Division II Tournament.
