NDC wins 4-3 in hard-fought game

Box Score

LYNDHURST, Ohio – An artful rally earned Notre Dame a 4-3 win over Tiffin in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on what was a rainy Sunday afternoon contest at Korb Field.

Six different Falcon players registered points in a match that marked NDC's third straight victory.

Tiffin (3-5-2, 2-4-1 GLIAC) attacked the goal early with three quick goals in the first 10 minutes of action.  Scoring for Tiffin were freshman Karl Jones (twice) and freshman Cedric Bruce- Kotay.  By the 8:50-mark, Notre Dame (9-2, 7-2) found itself in the unusual position of being three scores down.

The Blue & White were then able to rally, and they did so in quick order.  Declan McGivern got NDC on the board in the 13th minute to cut the TU advantage to 3-1.

At the 17:35-mark, the Falcons cut the Dragons' lead in half when Renan Troccoli knocked in his fourth goal of the year.

A Tom Owens netfinder in the 23rd minute completed the rally.  That goal – Owens' eighth of the year – knotted the score at 3-3.

The Falcons broke the tie when Dean Miller knocked in a 20-yard header on a broken play with the TU keeper out of position.  That goal came 20 seconds before the first half ended.

In the opening 45 minutes, NDC outshot the Dragons, 13-8, with the Falcons putting six shots on goal to Tiffin's five.

The second half was dominated by Notre Dame, which controlled the pace of play and kept a lid on the visitors' goal.  In that second stanza, the Blue & White outshot the Dragons, 7-1, over 45 scoreless minutes.

With the comeback victory, Notre Dame has now won three matches in a row and six of its last seven.  The final margin of victory spelled Notre Dame's fourth one-goal victory of the season.

The Falcons will continue their three-game home stand when they host the Lake Erie Storm on Thursday at 7 p.m.
