LYNDHURST, Ohio-- The Falcons defeated Walsh University, 3-1, on Thursday evening at Korb Field.
Notre Dame (12-4, 8-4 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) shut out Case Western Reserve last Sunday, tallying their sixth shutout of the season. The offense went on a scoring barrage where they netted five goals in the game. That marked the most net finders dating back to when they defeated Malone, 5-2, on Sept. 16th.
In the first half, forward,
Renan Troccoli started the scoring off for NDC at the 12th minute-mark to give the Falcons an early 1-0 lead.
Erik Beattie was credited on the assist.
Tom Owens added to the lead when he netted a direct free kick 19 yards out to give Notre Dame a 2-0 lead-- 10th goal of the year at the 32:06 minute-mark going into halftime.
Leading the charge in the second period, the Falcons added a third goal of the match when
Alexander Parkes found the net at the 62nd minute- mark. Walsh dented the scoreboard quickly after Parkes' goal when Chris Lynch netted a header at the 69th minute-mark to break the shutout for his third goal of the season, to cut the deficit in half 3-1, but was not enough.
For the Walsh Cavaliers, (3-12, 3-10 GLIAC) the loss marked their fourth straight defeat. WU was limited to just nine shots in Thursday's contest. NDC managed to get off 18 shots in the victory.
The Falcons will play its final game of the 2012 campaign on Sunday when they will travel to Ohio Dominican for a pivotal GLIAC matchup in Columbus. The match is slated to start at 4 p.m.
