LYNDHURST, Ohio-- The newly-ranked Falcons were upset by Lake Erie, 3-1, on Thursday night at Korb Field.
Playing in their first game since earning the national ranking at No.14 on Tuesday, the Falcons (10-3, 8-3 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) --Lake Erie 4-9, 3-8 were outplayed by the Storm in the second half.
Lake Erie coming into the match was winless at 0-4 against NDC since 2002. The win for the Storm notched their first win against the Blue and White in school history.
In the first period it was a hard fought and physical match with Notre Dame controlling much of the possession. NDC outshot LEC 14-3.
Early in the second period Lake Erie broke the tie on Stefan Martin's third and fourth goal of the season--- coming at the 46th minute. Martin answered right away striking a 20 yard low volley past the goal keeper
Jan Skorupinski--- coming at the 56th mark to give Lake Erie a 3-1 lead and would later be the game winner.
The Falcons found the net when
Colton Tanner scored the first goal of the game---coming at the 10th mark---his first of the season. Earnest was credited on his 10th assist of his playing career.
The Blue and White will travel away from Korb Field to Charleston (WV) on Sunday. The match will be slated to start at 3:30 p.m.
