Erik Beattie scored for the third consecutive game as Notre Dame (15-0-0) extended their regular season undefeated streak to 33 games. NDC is 33-0-0 during its historic run which dates back to the end of the 2009 season.
The Falcons struggled in the final third, scoring only twice on 23 shots. As a team, NDC recorded 23 shots – including 12 on target – to just 12 by Walsh. For the contest, WU recorded just six shots on frame.
Junior forward
Christian Earnest scored six minutes after the break to put the visitors ahead at 50:58. The Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, native made a devastating run from the midfield line slicing through the Caviler midfield and back line before slotting the ball under Mike Kelley for his 11
th goal of the season.
Just after the clock passed an hour Chris Lynch got on the end of a Nathaniel Milhoan corner kick to knot the score at 1-1.
Junior utility man
Erik Beattie who scored against the Cavilers a year ago in the Falcons 3-1 win at Korb Field powered home his 11
th goal of the season in the 72
nd minute. The junior from Madison, Ohio, buried the Falcons free kick that came courtesy of
Sam Vail being fouled at the top of the penalty area on an attempted shot.
Walsh (14-2-0) pushed players forward searching for the tying goal through the final 18 minutes to no avail, NDC net minder
Alex Klein stood tall between the posts making several important saves to earn his 33
rd career win.
With the win, Notre Dame secured their sixth win over the Head Coach Michael 'Mac' McBride's alma mater. In seven matches NDC holds a 6-0-1 record and has now won the last four contests.
In the loss, Walsh dropped to 14-2-0 and while suffering their first defeat since Sept. 9, snapping a 13 game winning streak.
The Falcons will next be in action at Korb Field on Saturday for their final regular season match. NDC will play hosts to Northwood (Mich.) at 7 p.m.
