Hyde joins Falcons

NDC signs quarterback to help start program

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Notre Dame Football announced today that John Hyde has signed an NAIA Letter of Intent to continue his football career with the Falcons.

Hyde comes to College Road from Massillon, Ohio, where he was a standout quarterback for Perry High School and Head Coach John Miller. Hyde was a three-year letterman for the Panthers in football; he also lettered twice in baseball and once in wrestling.

“We will no doubt experience immediate success with players like John as part of our team,” said Notre Dame Head Coach Adam Howard.

Hyde served as team captain for the Panthers in his senior season (2008) and was named All-Federal League as a sophomore and junior (2006, 2007), and second-team All-League as a senior. Hyde was also a two-time All-Inland District selection as well (2006, 2007). To start his PHS career, Hyde was the first freshman to play varsity in 23 years. The standout signal-caller also served as the team's place-kicker.

The son of John and Teri Hyde plans on beginning classes at Notre Dame in the fall and majoring in criminal justice.

The development of a Football program at Notre Dame College was announced on Nov. 25. With their development of a team, Notre Dame becomes the only scholarship football team in the metropolitan Cleveland area.
