This Week: The Notre Dame College baseball team heads to Walsh University on Wednesday Apr. 17 at 3 p.m. for a non-conference affair with the Cavaliers. This weekend, the Falcons host West Liberty University at Mercy Health Stadium on Saturday and Sunday Apr. 20-21. A doubleheader is scheduled for both days against WLU, with first pitch slated for 1 p.m.

Series History: The Falcons are 7-32 all-time against Walsh, dating back to their first meeting in 2005 and including the Cavaliers victory back on Mar. 12. Notre Dame is 24-16 all-time when facing West Liberty, dating back to their first meeting in 2014 and including their four-game series last season. The Hilltoppers took three of four from NDC, 4-6, 7-0, 0-9, 4-5.
 
Noting the NDC Falcons: Last weekend, Notre Dame traveled to Fairmont State University and battled valiantly before falling, 4-5, 0-3, 9-10 (10 inn.) and 3-12.
 
A pair of Falcons boast batting averages north of .300 in Alexander Jones (.320) and Caden Gomes (.315). Jones (21), alongside Carson Petrecca (26) and Aaron Miranda (16) drive home the runs for NDC, as both Petrecca (.288) and Miranda (.277) own solid batting averages of their own. Gomes posts a team-high 10 doubles, while Petrecca owns a team-best four home runs and 24 walks drawn.
 
On the bump, Guy Young leads the pitching staff with three wins, while Johnny Anservitz has punched out a team-best 47 batters. Danny Brammer has seen the most action for the Falcons, appearing in 14 contests, while Johnathan Cook limits the opposition with a team-best 3.00 ERA over nine appearances.
 
As a unit, Notre Dame slashes .242/.360/.340 (BA/OBP/SLG), to go with 43 doubles, six triples, 14 home runs and 160 runs scored. The Falcons allow a 9.08 ERA, .344 batting average, to go with 187 strikeouts and 187 walks allowed.
 
Noting the Cavaliers: Last week, Walsh defeated Malone 11-5 on the road on Tuesday before a four-game set with Northwood. WU dropped three of four to Northwood, 1-10, 11-10, 2-7 and 6-13.
 
As a whole, Walsh slashes .294/.393/.469, to go with 57 doubles, nine triples, 33 home runs and 215 runs scored. On the bump, WU allows a 6.11 ERA, .310 opponent batting average, to go with 193 strikeouts and 83 walks allowed.
 
Noting the Hilltoppers: Last weekend, West Liberty hosted Salem for four games, as SU took the first game 14-6. WLU got revenge in game two 15-11, before SU claimed game three 17-2. Tigers closed out the series by defeating the Hilltoppers 10-6.
 
As a team, West Liberty plays to the tune of .281/.381/.451, to go with 62 doubles, 10 triples, 29 home runs and 203 runs scored. The Hilltoppers allow a 9.72 ERA, .350 opponent batting average, to go with 147 strikeouts and 202 walks allowed.
