BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – For the first time since May 2022, a Notre Dame College baseball student-athlete has earned Mountain East Conference Player of the Week honors, presented by The Health Plan. Freshman Aaron Miranda was recognized for his performance on Sunday, as he helped NDC get its first win of the season. (MEC Release)
 
Miranda started behind the plate in game two of the Falcons' doubleheader with Ohio Dominican University. He went 3-for-3 in the batter's box, which included two doubles, and drove in five runs. Putting an exclamation mark on the day, the native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. hit a walk-off double to give the Falcons a 14-13 victory.
 
With one out and bases loaded in the bottom of the third inning, Miranda began his heroics by sending a double down the left field line to clear the bases. Notre Dame, down 9-3 prior to the hit, closed the deficit to three runs.
 
He stepped back up to the plate, with NDC trailing, 13-8, and dropped an RBI single into center field.
 
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Notre Dame had plated four runs to tie the game at 13. With runners on first and second, and two out, Miranda hit his second double to left field, scoring Cadence Varner for the win.
 
Miranda reached base in all five plate appearances, taking first on a walk and a hit by pitch, along with his three hits. His career-high five RBI is tied for the eighth-most in a game in NDC program history, including the most since Ben Ross posted a five-RBI game on Apr. 30, 2022.
