Acrobatics & Tumbling

Notre Dame comes back home for senior day on Thursday

This Week: Notre Dame College acrobatics & tumbling will be back home on March 21, for a matchup with Glenville State University. The competition is set to begin at 6 p.m.

Senior Night: The NDC A&T program will celebrate its first senior day ever, when Claudia Germain and Amaya Hein walk across the mat.

Records: NDC picked up two more wins at a tri-meet last weekend and have a record of 4-2, with a 1-2 mark against MEC competition. Glenville State is 2-3, overall, and 1-2 versus MEC teams.

Coaches Corner: Nikki Pizzi started the NDC program and is in her second season coaching the Falcons. Taylor Broadwater has been at Glenville State for two seasons.

Rankings: Neither of these teams are ranked in the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) national poll.

Noting the Falcons: Last week, Notre Dame continued to improve, posting a 249.900 final score, which is a program record. The Falcons defeated both Trine (246.359) and Adrian (131.400), on March 16. Two weeks prior, on March 3 against Buffalo State, NDC had set a program record, at the time, with a total of 241.73. NDC has not scored lower than 231 in any meet this season.

In the March 16 tri-meet, Notre Dame increased its scores in nearly every event from its meet on March 3, while maintaining the same score in the Tumbling Event.

A slight improvement in every heat of the Compulsory Event led to a score of 35.05, which was enough to lead Trine by 3.7. At halftime, the Falcons led Trine, 86.6-85.5, but NDC would step up and outscore TU, 163.300-160.855 in the second half, thanks to a strong team event. NDC was shining in the team event and awarded with a program-record 90.10 to secure the victory over Trine and a sweep of the tri-meet.

Noting the Pioneers: Glenville State has been consistent all season, scoring no lower than 255.390 in a meet. The Pioneers' lowest score came in a loss to nationally-ranked Frostburg State. This season, the Pioneers have beaten West Liberty (by just 1.175) and Trine. On March 13, Glenville State dropped a incredibly tight meet by a score of 256.830-256.060, to Kutztown.

Last season, GSU was a part of Notre Dame history when the Falcons faced the Pioneers in NDC's inaugural meet. The Falcons faced the Pioneers twice in the 2023.
