This Week: The Notre Dame College baseball team rounds out the regular season with a four-game series against Alderson Broaddus University. First the Falcons will host the Battlers at Mercy Health Stadium on Friday May 5 with a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Next, the two sides travel to Philippi, W.Va. on Sunday May 7 for a twin-bill set for 1 p.m.

th season at the helm of the NDC baseball program for the 2023 season. Barker has a career record of 236-301. Zac Mishler is in his second season as head coach of Alderson Broaddus.

Series History: The Falcons are 5-3 all-time when facing the Battlers, dating back to their first meeting in 2021, and including NDC taking three of four from AB last season. Notre Dame fell 7-5 in the series opener, before rattling off three straight wins, 9-4, 11-9 and 8-1.

Noting the Falcons: Last weekend, Notre Dame suffered a series sweep to Frostburg State, 5-1, 15-0, 6-2 and 5-3.

Tyler Shadle leads the NDC offense in batting average (.306), OPS (.762), slugging (.405), doubles (8) and tied for first in home runs (1).

Alec Mendoza drives in the runs for Notre Dame, posting a team-high 20 RBI, while touting a .273 average at the plate, second on the team. He is also second on the team in OPS (.660), slugging (.351) and doubles (7).

Johnny Costella adds production with a team-high 24 runs scored and a .375 on-base percentage, while
Nate Miller has seven doubles and 14 RBI this season.

The Falcons own a slash line of .232/.331/.290 (BA/OBP/SLG), to go with 147 runs scored, 44 doubles, five triples and five home runs.

On the mound, Mendoza leads the NDC pitching staff with five complete games (52.1 innings pitched), ranking second in the MEC. In addition, the righthander surrenders the second fewest walks per nine innings (2.41) in the league, as he maintains a 6.19 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, .294 opponent batting average.

Reliever
Devin Fish leads the team in wins (5), ERA (4.17), WHIP (1.45) and opponent batting average (.233), during his team-high 16 appearances (36.2 innings pitched) this season.

As a whole, Notre Dame owns a 9.18 ERA, 2.07 WHIP, .326 opponent batting average, to go with 189 strikeouts and 210 walks allowed.

Noting the Battlers: Last week, Alderson Broaddus fell three of four times to Wheeling University. The Battlers stole game one 5-4, before falling 3-0, 10-8 and 12-9.

On the year, Alderson Broaddus is paced by Chandler Ballenger, who leads the team in batting average (.364), OPS (.968), slugging percentage (.549), hits (59), doubles (12) and total bases (89). Ballenger is also one of three players to record 25+ RBI (27).

Joey Alcorn adds a .342 batting average (2
nd on team), while leading the squad in runs batted in (30).

Cameron Sheets is also tied for the team lead in RBI (30), as Sheets provides the power with a team-high seven home runs.
