This Week: The Notre Dame College swimming and diving team hosts a busy weekend inside Mellen Pool. The Falcons begin with a dual meet on Friday Jan. 27 at 5 p.m. against the University of Findlay. Next, NDC will have senior day on Saturday Jan. 28 at 1 p.m. with a tri meet against Frostburg State and Division III Baldwin Wallace.

Coaches Corner: Notre Dame is led by head coach
Stephanie Mulvin who is in her sixth season with the Falcon swimming and diving program. Mulvin has three MEC Championship trophies under her belt, after coaching the men's side to three consecutive conference crowns in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Andrew Makepeace is in his 11
th season as the head coach of the University of Findlay. Laura Demaline is the head coach of Baldwin Wallace in her 10
th season. Lastly, Frostburg State is led by first year head coach Matt Brinton.

Rankings: According to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll, the University of Findlay checks in ranked No. 7 on the men's side and No. 19 on the women's side in Division II.

Noting the Falcons: Last week, Notre Dame College dismantled Malone University during a pair of dual meets. The NDC men's team won 167-81 on Friday inside Mellen Pool, and 78-51 on Saturday in Canton. The NDC women's team reigned victorious 179-42 on Friday and 107-22 on Saturday.

The Falcons picked up victories in 38 of the 42 events, and were led by seniors
Brooke Dobrzanski and
Roan Kelleher who were named MEC Swimmers of the Week after the performance.

Dobrzanski electrified in the water, capturing a first-place finish in seven of the eight events that she swam in. The Milan High School Product owned the 400 Medley Relay (4:21.76), 200 Free (2:08.09), 100 Free on both days (58.05 and 58.66), 400 Free Relay (4:00.23), 200 Medley Relay (1:59.24), 100 Back (1:07.30) and 800 Free Relay (8:53.03).
Kelleher contributed a perfect performance by winning all four of his events. The senior reigned victorious in the 400 Medley Relay (3:42.09), 200 Free (1:57.21), 50 Free (22.61) and 400 Free Relay (3:21.49).

The Falcons are now 5-5 on the men's side and 4-6 on the women's side in dual meets, while boasting a 2-1 GMAC/MEC record. NDC has wins over Malone and a loss to Ashland within the conference.

Noting the Oilers: Most recently, Findlay took on Ashland University on the road. The Oilers came away victorious 139-79 on the men's side and 141-73 on the women's side.

Earlier in the year, UF played one other common opponent to NDC, in Division III John Carroll on Dec. 17. The Oilers took care of business on that occasion, 535.3-507.5 on the men's side and 479.5-465.9.

Noting the Yellow Jackets: In their most recent outing, Baldwin Wallace fell to Division III Ohio Northern 171-65 on the men's side and 123-95 on the women's side.

Prior to that, BW faced Wooster, Malone and Bluffton, similar to NDC. In those meets, BW fell to Wooster on both sides, before handling Malone and Bluffton.

Noting the Bobcats: Last week, Frostburg State had a strong showing against Salem University, winning 137-125 on the men's side and 157-90 on the women's side.

The Bobcats have also competed against MEC schools in WV Wesleyan, Wheeling, Fairmont State and Davis & Elkins. FSU reigned victorious during all four meets, with D&E giving the Bobcats their toughest test. Frostburg State men's team edged out Davis & Elkins 103-102 back on Oct. 22, while the women's side won 104-98.
