NDC Swimming & Diving eager for dual meets with Malone

This Week: The Notre Dame College swimming and diving team will return to the water with a pair of meets against Malone University. First, the Falcons will host the Pioneers on Friday Jan. 20 at 5 p.m., before the two sides head to Malone on Saturday Jan. 21 at 1 p.m. for round two.

Coaches Corner: Notre Dame is led by head coach Stephanie Mulvin who is in her sixth season with the Falcon swimming and diving program. Mulvin has three MEC Championship trophies under her belt, after coaching the men's side to three consecutive conference crowns in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Nicholas Wertz is the head coach of Malone University in his first season.

Rankings: Neither of these teams are ranked according to the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division II Poll.

Noting the NDC Falcons: Notre Dame College returns to the water after last swimming against John Carroll and Oberlin inside Mellen Pool back on Dec. 2. The Falcons fell 187-24 to JCU and 148-63 to OC on the men's side, while dropping 157-64 to JCU and 113-98 to OC on the women's side.

Entering the week, NDC's men's team flashes a 3-5 dual meet record, as the women are 2-6. Both teams are 0-1 inside the GMAC/MEC with a loss to Ashland.

Junior Ashton Smith and senior Hannah Berlin will lead the NDC swimming and diving program into Fairmont State University this weekend after being recognized as MEC Swimmer of the Week earlier this season.

Noting the Pioneers: Malone also returns to the water after a long hiatus, last swimming on Dec. 3 against NCAA Division III Baldwin Wallace. The Pioneers carry a 1-5 dual meet record on the men's side and 0-6 record on the women's side into the week, as MU fell on both sides 166-51 (men) and 146-46 (women) most recently.
