This Week: The Notre Dame College women's soccer team will have a week on the road as they travel to Wheeling and West Virginia Wesleyan. The Falcons head to WU on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m., before traveling to WVWC on Sunday Oct. 2 at 4 p.m.

Records: NDC is currently 2-3-2 and 1-2-2 inside the Mountain East Conference. WU is 4-4 (4-2 MEC), while WVWC sits at 1-6-1 (1-4-1 MEC).

Coaches Corner: Mike Shiels headlines the Notre Dame women's soccer program for his 20
th season at the helm. Shiels carries a 189-121-32 career record, to go along with three MEC Tournament championships and four MEC Coach of the Year honors. Emmanuel Awotula is in his first season as head coach of the Wheeling women's soccer team. Richard Owens is the head coach of West Virginia Wesleyan in his fifth season.

Series History: NDC is 17-2 all-time when facing Wheeling, dating back to 2011 and including WU's 3-2 victory back on Sept. 14. The Falcons are 6-11-3 all-time against West Virginia Wesleyan, dating back to their first meeting in 2011 and most recently including WVWC's 1-0 victory last season.

Noting the Falcons: Last week, Notre Dame College played just one contest after inclement weather suspended their match indefinitely against West Liberty. NDC traveled to Alderson Broaddus on Wednesday evening where the two sides ended in a scoreless draw, despite the Falcons outshooting the Battlers 27 to seven.

Notre Dame's offense has been paced by freshman
Emma Buda and junior
Madison Marino who have netted a pair of goals each this season. Buda leads the team in points (5), shots (16) and shots on goal (13), while ranking number one in NCAA Division II in shot accuracy (.813). Marino clocks in as the second threat for NDC with 12 shots and eight on goal.

The Falcons offense is facilitated from a multitude of different avenues as six different NDC Falcons have registered one assist on the season.

In goal, senior
Jordan Pasalaqua has flashed a .759 save percentage on 56 shots faced this season. The Madison, Ohio native has three shutouts, 22 saves, to go with a 1.17 goals against average on the year. Pasalaqua ranks number one in the conference in shutouts, while being fifth in goals against average and sixth in save percentage.

As a team, Notre Dame College boasts nine goals scored on 10.6 shots per game, to go with six assists, 29 corner kicks and 30 team saves. Moreover, NDC is one of the most efficient teams in the country, carrying a .676 shot accuracy percentage, the sixth best mark in NCAA Division II. The Falcons have been able to log 50 of their 74 shots on goal this season.

Noting the Cardinals: Last week, Wheeling won a pair of matches to extend their winning streak to four games. On Wednesday, WU outshot West Liberty 25 to nine, en route to a 3-0 victory at home. Kenadee Burgoyne netted her team-high fourth goal of the season to aid the Cardinals. On Sunday, WU dominated once again by outshooting Alderson Broaddus 29 to five, as they won 2-1 on the road.

As aforementioned, Burgoyne is the fuel to the Wheeling offense with her team leading four goals, nine points and 40 shots taken. Burgoyne who is second in the conference and seventh nationally in shots per game (5.00), is joined by Mary DiFonzo who shares the team lead with nine points. DiFonzo has generated three goals, three assists on the season as the Cardinals second offensive option. She has 30 shots taken and a team-high 17 shots on goal this year.

Between the pipes, keeper Mikayla Yarwood has logged a .722 save percentage on 130 shots faced this season. Yarwood has tallied one shutout, 52 saves and a 2.62 goals against average. Her 52 total saves, ranks her tied for 15
th in the nation.

As a whole, Wheeling has scored 16 goals on 19.3 shots per game, to go with 11 assists, 22 corner kicks and 53 team saves. Moreover, the Cardinals are tied for seventh in the country in shots per game, while being 19
th in shots on goal per game (9.1).

Noting the Bobcats: Last week, West Virginia Wesleyan went 0-1-1 as the Bobcats are now winless over their last five matches. On Wednesday, WVWC fell 2-0 to Davis & Elkins after getting outshot 23 to five at home. On Sunday, the Bobcats battled to a 2-2 tie with Fairmont State on the road. Despite trailing 2-0, West Virginia Wesleyan found goals from Maggie Queen and Ellie Pergolotti in the 60
th and 86
th minutes to earn the draw during a fairly even contest.

Ava Badallo and Kameron Bonneau pace a balanced Bobcats offense with two goals scored each this season. Five other WVWC players have recorded a goal on the year as no player has taken more than eight shots. Along with leading the team in goals and points, Badallo paces the team in shots (8) and shots on goal (6).

Ally Moore is the Bobcats goalkeeper, tallying a .660 save percentage on 130 shots faced this season. In addition, Moore has one shutout, 33 saves and a 2.13 goals against average.

As a unit, West Virginia Wesleyan has scored nine goals on 8.1 shots per game, to go with seven assists, 27 corner kicks and 33 team saves. The Bobcats are currently seated 16
th in the country in terms of shot accuracy (.600).
