The junior becomes the ninth All-American selection in NDC history, including the fourth in the program's NCAA Division II era. Moreover, the forward is the first player in program history to be recognized as an All-American by the D2CCA.
"Absolutely delighted for Miriam," said head coach
Mike Shiels happily. "She is a genuinely good person, a great teammate and great to coach. She is as good a finisher as we have ever had. She is a player who is driven to score goals and we see that every day in training. Strong, athletic, and dangerous to create on her own or to get on the end of things. Well deserved! Couldn't be happier for her!"
Szijarto, a First Team All-Atlantic Region and First Team All-MEC honoree, paced Notre Dame College and the Mountain East Conference with 18 goals scored, including six multi-goal performances, totaling 39 points this year. Upon conclusion of the season, the two-time MEC Player of the Week, ranked top five in points and top three in goals amongst the NCAA Division II.
In the record books, Szijarto tied the NDC single season goals record, notching the most goals scored by an NDC Falcon since 1996. Moreover, she tied the NDC single season record for game-winning goals with six (most since 2009), and totaled the second-most points in a single season in program history (most since 1996). She is also tied second in goals per game (1.00) and third in points per game (2.17) in NDC single season history. In addition, Szijarto is tied second in goals and fourth in points in Mountain East Conference single season history.
