This Week: The Notre Dame College women's soccer team will face Alderson Broaddus University in Philippi, W.Va. on Wednesday Sept. 21 at 5 p.m., before returning home to host West Liberty University on Sunday Sept. 25 at 4 p.m.

Records: NDC is currently 2-3-1 and 1-2-1 in the MEC. AB sits at 0-3-2 (0-3-1 MEC), while WLU has a record of 2-3-1 (1-2-1 MEC). The Battlers are searching for their first win since the season opener last year, as AB is currently on a 21-match winless streak (0-18-3).

Coaches Corner: Mike Shiels headlines the Notre Dame women's soccer program for his 20
th season at the helm. Shiels carries a 189-121-31 career record, to go along with three MEC Tournament championships and four MEC Coach of the Year honors. Jaron Hulme is in his fifth season as head coach of Alderson Broaddus. Lastly, Barry Christmas is in his ninth season as the head women's soccer coach at West Liberty.

Series History: Notre Dame has never lost to either Alderson Broaddus or West Liberty as the Falcons are 3-0 against AB and 12-0-8 against WLU all-time, since their first meetings 2011. Last season, NDC took out AB 3-0 and 4-0. So far this season, the Falcons and Hilltoppers drew 2-2 in West Liberty, as the two sides have now tied each of the last three meetings.

Noting the Falcons: Last week, Notre Dame fell during a pair of tough matches. On Wednesday, the Falcons posted a pair of first half goals by
Kalie Blaising and
Emma Parker, but Wheeling was able to overcome the deficit and win 3-2 on Mueller Field. For Blaising and Parker, it is their first goals of the season. On Sunday, Notre Dame held a 1-0 advantage after
Madison Marino netted her second goal of the season. However, Frostburg State scored a pair of second half goals in back-to-back minutes to steal the victory, 2-1.

Notre Dame is led offensively by freshman
Emma Buda and Marino who have scored two goals a piece this season. The duo ranks one-two in goals (2 and 2), points (5 and 4), shots (9 and 8) and shots on goal (8 and 7) this season. In addition,
Madison Luckett,
Blake Allen,
Maridza Desir, Blaising and Parker, have all scored once for the Falcons. Moreover, a balanced Notre Dame offense has produced six assists from six different players this season.

In goal, senior
Jordan Pasalaqua has registered 19 saves on 49 shots faced this season. The Madison, Ohio native have totaled two shutouts on the year to go with her .731 save percentage and 1.4 goals allowed per game.

As a team, Notre Dame has nine goals on 7.8 shots per game, to go with six assists, 25 corner kicks and 27 saves. Lastly, NDC has logged 36 of their 47 shots on goal this season which is the second most efficient mark in all of NCAA Division II at 76.6%.

Noting the Battlers: Last week, Alderson Broaddus finished up 0-1-1. On Wednesday, AB battled FSU at home to a 1-1 draw despite Fairmont State outshooting Alderson Broaddus 33-5. On Sunday, the Battlers fell on the road during a high paced match with Wheeling, 5-3 as AB outshot once again, 37 to 12.

Offensively, Morgan Griffith and Alieza Deason Vargas pace the team with two goals apiece. Deason Vargas and Iris Jimenez lead the team in shots, each tallying five.

In goal, Olivia Kqira has been under fire all season long as 131 shots have been sent her way. Impressively, Kqira has saved 44 shots or 8.8 saves per game, ranking her 16
th in the country in total saves and second in saves per game. Moreover, Kqira is atop the MEC in saves per game, while being third in save percentage (.731). Due to the ample opportunities for opposing teams, Kqira allows 2.4 goals per game, which is ninth in the MEC.

As a unit, Alderson Broaddus has scored six goals on 7.2 shots per game, to go with two assists, 13 corner kicks and 44 saves.

Noting the Hilltoppers: Last week, West Liberty was shutout during both contests en route to an 0-2 week. On Wednesday, WLU dropped a home contest 1-0 to Frostburg State following a 36
th minute goal, after being outshot 16-2. On Sunday, the Hilltoppers allowed a pair of first half goals on the road in their 2-0 loss to Fairmont State. WLU was again outshout 17-2 in the game.

Rileigh Gualtiere is the current leading scorer for the Hilltoppers, posting a pair of goals on the year. However, Amelia Compston is clear leader in shots (15) and shots on goal (7) as no other player has more than seven shots taken or three shots on goal. In addition, Compston is the main facilitator for West Liberty as she logs the only two assists for the team so far.

Between the pipes, Zara Wickert has faced 60 shots on the year, saving 23. Wickert has one shutout, a .742 save percentage and 1.33 average goals allowed per game.
