This Week: Notre Dame College baseball heads to Beckley, W.Va. for the annual Mountain East Conference Tournament at Epling Stadium. NDC is the three seed in the North Division and will play the top seed from the South Division, the University of Charleston, on Thursday May 12 at noon.

Records: Notre Dame finished the regular season with a 26-24 record (20-12 MEC), while Charleston is 33-15 (25-7 MEC). Fairmont State concluded at 27-20 (22-10 MEC) as Concord went 31-17-1 (20-12 MEC). Lastly, Frostburg State is 32-15 (22-10 MEC) and Glenville State is 31-15 (19-13 MEC).

Coaches Corner: Len Barker is in his 11
th season at the helm of the NDC baseball program for the 2022 season. Barker has a career record of 226-267. Robbie Britt headlines the Charleston program, Matt Yurish is the head coach of Fairmont State, while Kevin Garrett is at the helm of Concord. Moreover, Anthony Williams heads the Frostburg State baseball program as James Mullins leads Glenville State.

Rankings: None of these teams are ranked according to the National Collegiate Baseball Writer's Association (NCBWA) Poll. In the latest Regional Rankings, the University of Charleston is seated ninth in the Atlantic Region.

Series History: Against Charleston, NDC is 6-14 all-time, while being 18-14 in the all-time series against Fairmont State, and 10-15 when playing Concord. Notre Dame is 6-2 when playing Frostburg State all-time and 15-5 all-time against Glenville State.

Noting the Falcons: Notre Dame College increased their regular season win total by nine games in 2022 as compared to 2021, putting together a 20-win season for the first time since 2019. The Falcons also increased their conference win total by six games, generating 20 wins inside the MEC for the first time since 2016, including punching their ticket to the MEC Tournament for the first time since 2019. Len Barker and the Falcons closed out the 2022 campaign on a strong note by going 22-11 over the final three fourths of the season.

As a team, Notre Dame College is batting above .300 for the first time this season as they are now slashing, .301/.381/.434 (BA/OBP/SLG) with 88 doubles, nine triples, 32 home runs and 310 runs scored. Stacking up against the MEC, NDC is fourth in batting average, fifth in doubles, sixth in triples, sixth in home runs and sixth in runs scored.

Ben Ross headlines the Notre Dame offense by leading the team in every major statistical category. The shortstop posts a .393 batting average, 1.213 OPS, .758 slugging percentage, .455 on base percentage, 70 hits, 19 doubles, two triples, 14 home runs, 57 RBIs, 135 total bases and 53 runs scored. Amongst the Mountain East Conference, the redshirt sophomore is tied sixth in batting average, third in OPS, third in slugging percentage, tied for first in total hits, third in doubles, tied for 13
th in triples, second in home runs, second in RBIs and first in total bases. Moreover, the Springfield, Ohio native has enjoyed an illustrious career to this point with several program records to his name. This season alone, Ross has set the NDC single season record in RBIs, home runs, runs scored, total bases, intentional walks and sacrifice flies, all while being tied for the single season hits record and being one double shy of the single season doubles record which he set last season.

Contributing to the Notre Dame offense are the bats of
Nick Farrell and
Alec Mendoza who have been red hot during the second half of the season. N. Farrell recently posted his 213
th hit of his NDC career to break the program record as he generates a .342 batting average this season, second on the team. Mendoza rides a 12-game hit streak into the conference tournament as his batting average has swelled to .331 on the season, good for third on the team. In addition, Mendoza (42) and N. Farrell (32) check in at second and third respectively in runs batted in as well. Â

On the bump, Notre Dame holds a 7.11 ERA, .292 opponent batting average, to go along with 314 strikeouts and 242 walks allowed. Within the conference, the Falcons are seventh in ERA and opponent batting average, while being eighth in strikeouts and 11
th in walks allowed.

Austin Mora and
Alex Dicke have been Notre Dame's one-two punch all season long. Mora is the Falcon's workhorse with 71.1 innings pitched and 13 games started, both team-highs. Mora garners a 6.43 ERA, .235 opponent batting average, with 67 punchouts and 49 walks allowed. Dicke has enjoyed a fabulous freshman season with a team leading 4.37 ERA and team best .218 opponent batting average. Dicke has started ten games, pitching in 55.2 innings this season as he has struck out 45 and walked 37. Stacking up against the MEC, Dicke is seventh in ERA and number one in opponent batting average, while Mora is tied for fifth in complete games (4), fourth in innings pitched, third in games started, seventh in punch outs and third in opponent batting average.
