Men's and women's bowling wrap up Sectionals in Dayton

The Notre Dame bowlers rolled 64 Baker games on Saturday and Sunday, March 12 and 13, at the Intercollegiate Team Championships Sectional Qualifier at Poelking Lanes South in Dayton.  Needing to finish among the top four teams to advance to the national finals, the women were tenth in a 16-team field, while the men finished 12th out of 18 teams.

The Falcon men generated some excitement during Saturday's morning squad with a 279 game, the weekend's second highest score in the men's division, and trailed only a 289 by the University of Tennessee Southern. Finding themselves in 16th place entering the second day of competition, the NDC men averaged 195 for Sunday's 16-game morning block to vault up to 12th place.

The Falcon women established a temporary new season high Baker score of 249 on Saturday, then topped it as they rolled the two highest games of Sunday's women's division competition with scores of 253 and 246. The NDC women finished in the highest position of the five Ohio schools competing in the Dayton Sectional.

McKendree University led both divisions in Dayton, and both teams from the University of St. Francis – Illinois also earned berths in the ITC. Also advancing from the Dayton Sectional were Tennessee Southern and William Paterson University in the men's division and Delaware State University and Saint Xavier University in the women's division.

The Falcon bowlers will close the 2021-2022 season at the Ohio Bowling Conference Championship Tournament in Columbus on March 26.
