Men's and women's bowling both finish in top 10 to wrap up first half of season

DAYTON, Ohio -- The Notre Dame College bowling teams made another trip to the Dayton area this past weekend to the Wright State Raiders' two-day tournament. The men bowled at Beaver Vu Bowl, in Fairborn, and the ladies took to the lanes at nearby Poelking Woodman. The format consisted of five individual games and sixteen baker games, with an eliminator format for four qualifying teams.

The women's varsity team scores were once again consistent during the regular games, shooting no scores under 900 and three individual team games over 1,000. The team finished Saturday with an overall total score of 4,914, just short of Wright State's 4,933. Senior Hannah Klein, for the second week in a row, earned the first-place individual award during Saturday's regular games. During Saturday's individual team portion of the tournament, the senior rolled games of 224, 224, 233, 246 and 256 for a total score of 1,183, averaging a fantastic 236 average. Junior Rachel Foreback finished seventh among all individuals, with fantastic games of 243 and 233, averaging almost 200 for her five games. Finishing tied for 9th, individually, was junior Olivia Johnson, who rolled three games over 200 and averaged a solid 193 for her Individual games. Freshmen Carly Jones contributed a nice 224 game to finish her individual games.

On day two during the 16-game baker team games, the women's team picked up the pace and managed to overtake Wright State and finish first in qualifying for the eliminator round. NDC overtook them in a solid set of baker games in the first round and led the tournament by 50 pins over the host Wright State. The women bowled a solid 211 game in first game of the eliminator, but were eliminated by Wright State and University of Northwestern Ohio, missing out of the final match play games by only 19 pins.

The junior varsity team, competing with five other JV squads, managed a second-place finish finishing behind Wright State University. They finished third in the eliminator rounds. Freshman bowler Madison Pitts had a good day finishing 5th among all JV teams, rolling a 200 in her last game and averaging 175 for the day.

The Notre Dame men's team had a solid day, overall. They were in sixth place, out of twenty teams, after the regular games, well within striking distance of the eliminator brackets. They still found themselves within striking distance after the first three baker sets, only to settle for a sixth place finish overall, finishing 111 pins out of the eliminator cut. Senior Michael Wiese led the men during the Saturday individual games, averaging a very solid 210 for the day and finishing 7th overall. Josh Dohm was consistent, rolling a low game of 200 and a high game of 225 among his five games, and finishing thirteenth, overall. Sophomore Aiden Compton had a similar day, rolling extremely consistent games, averaging 204 and finishing twenty second individually. Freshmen Hunter Brackman contributed with games of 225 and 227 and averaged 204 for his four games.
