Klein leads the way as women's bowling takes second; men finish in seventh place

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Notre Dame College men's and women's bowling teams made their shortest trip of the year and took to the lanes at Wayne Webb's Columbus Bowl for a one-day tournament. This was another American Heartland Conference Tournament. In the five individual games and 12-game baker game tournament, the men came away with a seventh-place finish and the women took a second-place tournament finish, behind a tough Davenport team for the second tournament in a row.

The women's varsity team scores were consistent during the regular games, improving in each of the five games they bowled. Senior Hannah Klein qualified first for all individuals during the morning's regular games with a fantastic 1,070 five-game total, averaging 214 with 4 games over 200. Junior Rachel Foreback finished 9th among all individuals, totaling 919 for her five games. Finishing 12th and 13th individually were Junior Olivia Johnson with a 224 game and five game series of 889 and freshman Carly Jones, who rolled an 886 five-game series. During the 12 baker games, the team rolled 3 baker games over 200, with a high of 237.

The men's team on Saturday finished seventh in the standings after the individual games and maintained that pace by finishing seventh in the tough sixteen team field after their team baker games. Highlights of the day included freshman Anthony Shield leading the junior varsity men and finished 3rd, individually, with a fantastic 235 average, rolling all games over 200, including back-to-back games of 246 and 257. Senior Michael Wiese finished sixth among all varsity men, with a total series of 1,107 and a 221 average. Sophomore Aiden Compton averaged 207, good enough for twentieth in the field. Sophomore Josh Dohm threw in two formidable games of 255 and 243 in his later games. Junior varsity player Brad Stevens ended his individual game day with a fine 246.

Both teams travel to the Dayton, Ohio area again this weekend for their second trip to that area this year.
