This Week: The Notre Dame College volleyball team will travel to Charleston, WV for the Quarterfinal Round of the MEC Tournament on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 5 p.m. The Falcons finished No. 4 in the North and will take on the University of Charleston, the top seeded team from the South.

MEC Tournament: The Quarterfinal Round will begin with the No. 2 seed from the South vs. the No.3 from the North, in WV State and West Liberty at noon. Next, Wheeling, who won the North Division and will play the No. 4 from the South, Glenville State at 2:30 p.m. Lastly, Fairmont State and Davis & Elkins close out the round at 7:30 p.m.

In the semifinals, the winners of NDC/UC and FSU/D&E will square up, while the winners of WU/GSU and WVSU/WLU will see each other. The semis will commence on Friday Nov. 11 at 6 and 8:30 p.m.

Records: NDC finished the regular season at 14-18 and 8-8 inside the Mountain East Conference. UC ended 30-3 (15-1 MEC) on the year.

Coaches Corner: Riley Coleman and
Kathleen Egan are co-head coaches of the Notre Dame College volleyball program, holding a career record of 9-8. Tyler Kanelos is in his second season as the head coach of Charleston. Kanelos maintains a career mark of 52-14.

Rankings: Neither of these teams are ranked according to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Poll.

Series History: NDC is 1-9 all-time when facing the University of Charleston, dating back to their first meeting in 2013 and including the Golden Eagles 3-1 victory in South Euclid back on Oct. 8.

Noting the Falcons: Last week, Notre Dame College played well by going 2-0 without dropping a set. On Tuesday, NDC took out Frostburg State in straight sets, powered by sophomore
Jayme Zoeckler's serve. Zoeckler produced seven aces in the match, which is the most in a three-set match in NDC program history and second most in any match in program history. On Friday, a balanced offensive attack got the job done 3-0 vs. Alderson Broaddus on Senior Night.

Kaye Dregalla headlines the NDC offense, as she led the team with 272 kills on the year. Sophomore

Ryleigh Ronald (182) aid the Falcon attack, with Comer pacing the team at 2.71 kills per set.

Zoeckler continues to facilitate the Notre Dame offense with 706 assists at 8.40 assists per set. She ranks fourth in the MEC in assists per set.

Kiley Kalina has anchored the Falcons all season long with 560 digs at 4.83 digs per set. Kalina ranks second in the MEC and 12
th in NCAA Division II in total digs, while being fourth in the MEC in digs per set.

At the net, Derda (101) and Ronald (94) provide a solid presence at the net as middle blockers.

For the season, Notre Dame has produced 11.3 kills per set on a .166 hit percentage to go with, 10.3 assists per set, 16.8 digs per set, 1.9 blocks per set and 1.5 aces per set. The Falcons rank ninth in NCAA Division II with 1,970 total digs on the year.

Noting the Golden Eagles: Charleston enters the postseason red-hot, winning their last 13 matches in a row, including dropping just one set over the last nine games. Last week, UC dismantled Concord and West Virginia State 3-0, as Pia Selke led the team on both occasions with 14 and 13 kills, respectively.

The Golden Eagles boast three, 300-kill performers on the season, led by Sage Bearnson's 368 kills at 3.29 kills per set. She ranks fourth in the MEC in kills and fifth in kills per set.

Selke (330) and McKenzie Damon (322) join Bearnson on the attack at 2.97 and 2.88 kills per set, respectively.

Maria Hernandez sets up the Golden Eagles attack, as he shows 1,185 assists at 10.77 assists per set. In addition, she is seated fifth in the country in total assists and 22
nd in assists per set.

On the defensive side of the ball, Erin Carmody (495), Hernandez (365) and Damon (356) lead the team in digs. Carmody's numbers rank her fourth in the MEC in digs and fifth in digs per set (4.46).

At the net, Reagan McLean leads the Mountain East with 133 blocks at 1.34 blocks per set. She is one of the top players in the country in the category, ranking third in both blocks and blocks per set.

As a unit, Charleston averages 13.3 kills per set on a .252 hit percentage, to go with 12.4 assists per set, 18.5 digs per set, 2.0 blocks per set and 2.0 aces per set. In NCAA Division II, UC ranks second in digs (2,162) and eighth in digs per set.
