Women’s rugby enters regional tournament this weekend

READING, Pa. – Notre Dame College women's rugby begins the Division I National Collegiate Rugby Tournament, on Friday night. At 4 p.m., NDC will take on Clemson University in the regional semifinal round.

The Falcons are in the regional bracket with Clemson, Colgate and Iowa in Pennsylvania. The other side of the regional bracket is made up of Michigan, Iowa State, Northern Iowa and Southern Nazarene and those teams were sent to St. Louis, Mo.

Clemson had to battle Kent State in a play-in game to make the regional tournament. The winner of the NDC-Clemson matchup will stay in Reading to play the winner of the Colgate-Iowa game, in the regional championship. The regional final will be played on Nov. 20, at 11 a.m.

The winner of each region will meet in Houston, on Dec. 4 for the Division I Championship game.

This season, NDC had a 5-1 record, which included two shutouts against Bowling Green (75-0) and Kent State (64-0). Over the final two games of the regular season, the Falcons outscored their opponents, 132-5.

NDC spent most of the season at the top of the National Coaches' Poll, but currently sit at No. 2, behind Michigan.
