SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – During the first home meet of the season, the Notre Dame College swimming and diving team hosted Edinboro University. The NDC men's team pulled out a narrow 101-93 victory, while the women's side fell 152-50.
Notre Dame College got the fireworks started early in the men's 200 yard medley relay. The quartet of
Adonis Thomas,
Austin Arnold,
Campbell Fisher and
Roan Kelleher edged out the Edinboro relay by 0.27 seconds to earn an important 11 points for the squad. The NDC relay touched the wall at 1:40.37, compared to EU's 1:40.64.
Senior
Hannah Berlin followed suit in the very next event as she claimed first place in the 1,000 yard freestyle (11:00.17).
Junior
Ashton Smith brought home the gold in the 200 yard freestyle, winning with a time of 1:47.22.
Redshirt senior
Adonis Thomas won his second event of the evening, and first individually when he snagged the men's 200 yard butterfly crown. Thomas erased the competition with a time of 2:01.90, nearly six seconds faster than second place.
Smith operated a perfect two-for-two in individual events this evening as he also won the 100 yard freestyle (47.24).
Fisher picked up the final event victory for the Falcons as he finished more than 13 seconds ahead of second place in the 500 yard freestyle (5:10.35).
The Notre Dame College swimming and diving team will be back in action on Friday Nov. 4 when the Falcons travel to Ashland University for a dual meet beginning at 5 p.m.
