The Notre Dame College women's rugby program will head to Knoxville, Tenn. for the National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) championship weekend. No. 6 Notre Dame will take on No. 1 Northern Iowa at The Tennessee Rugby Park, on Saturday, Dec. 4, for the national semifinal matchup at 1 p.m.
NDC women's rugby is attempting to win their second National Championship. Notre Dame won their first title in 2014, going 11-1 that season and defeating Winona State, 45-10, in the championship contest.
The Falcons enter the weekend with a record of 10-1, posting their first double-digit win season since 2014. In their 10 victories, Notre Dame's average margin of victory is 44.6 points and they have shut out four opponents.
Notre Dame is 6-0 this season when playing at neutral sites. On Nov. 13, they defeated No. 13 Roger Williams University, 39-7, and then took down No. 9 Colgate University, 57-10, on Nov. 14 for the Regional Championship in Syracuse, N.Y.
With a win, NDC will play on Dec. 5 at 1:30 p.m. against the winner of the No. 3 Marquette vs. No. 5 Life University matchup. The losing teams will take to the pitch on Dec. 5 at 11:30 a.m. in the third-place game.
