Women’s rugby set to battle top seed Northern Iowa in national semifinals

The Notre Dame College women's rugby program will head to Knoxville, Tenn. for the National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) championship weekend. No. 6 Notre Dame will take on No. 1 Northern Iowa at The Tennessee Rugby Park, on Saturday, Dec. 4, for the national semifinal matchup at 1 p.m.

NDC women's rugby is attempting to win their second National Championship. Notre Dame won their first title in 2014, going 11-1 that season and defeating Winona State, 45-10, in the championship contest.

The Falcons enter the weekend with a record of 10-1, posting their first double-digit win season since 2014. In their 10 victories, Notre Dame's average margin of victory is 44.6 points and they have shut out four opponents.

Notre Dame is 6-0 this season when playing at neutral sites. On Nov. 13, they defeated No. 13 Roger Williams University, 39-7, and then took down No. 9 Colgate University, 57-10, on Nov. 14 for the Regional Championship in Syracuse, N.Y.

With a win, NDC will play on Dec. 5 at 1:30 p.m. against the winner of the No. 3 Marquette vs. No. 5 Life University matchup. The losing teams will take to the pitch on Dec. 5 at 11:30 a.m. in the third-place game.
